Classes:

I offer classes in smocking, embroidery, heirloom sewing and silk ribbon embroidery.   All class fees include materials unless kit fees are noted.  Classes change monthly so check to see if there is something you're interested in.   I will always try to accommodate customers if they are asking for a certain class or a  technique they would like to learn.

 July Classes   

Smocking Basics:  You will learn to do basic smocking stitches on a pleated inset that will teach you  cable, waves, flowerettes, French knots, and lazy daisy, outline,  stem stitch as well as how to read a smocking graph and construction tips.  7/12 11-2  $22.00.

Bishop Workshop:    Make a bishop dress from Imperial Broadcloth from start to finish.  Color and sleeve variations your choice. This will be ready to smock when completed.  You will learn how to block, attach a bias neckband, placket, adding trim to a sleeve and French seams.  Two weeks  Machine required.  7/13 and 7/20 11-3  $55.00  Includes fabric, trim, notions, pleating and class.   Ellen McCarn bishop pattern required. 20% discount if needed for the class.

Bullion Basics Scissor Fob: Learn the basics of bullion roses using floche while making a weighted  silk dupioni scissor fob.  Buds, roses,  fly stitch and lazy daisy stitches covered.   The fob is encircled with a twisted cord. 7/5 11-3  $22.00

Pleater Basics:  Is that pleater in your closet haunting you.  Dig it out and learn basic pleating of yokes, insets, bishop neck lines and curves.   Pleater care is also covered.   7/19 11/2  $24.00

Summer Temari:  Using bright summer colors we will make a Japanese Temari ball  This is a fun and easy project. 7/27 and 8/3  11-2 $22.00

Heirloom Pillow:   Take your heirloom sewing to the next level.   We will do pintucks, puffing, lace insertion and Swiss insertion while making this pillow from satin batiste that is finished with a lace trimmed ruffle. Color is your choice.  7/26 and 8/2 11-2 Machine required. $45.00

Shadow Work Embroidery:   Learn the basics of shadow work embroidery on batiste with the design of your choice from the plates that I carry.  This can later be inserted into a child's dress.  7/22  11-2  $22.00.

Christmas Sewing Set:  This is a cross stitched slipper/needle book, scissor case, and scissor fob made with hand dyed linen stitched over 2 threads with Weeks Dye Works floss.   The finishing is done with silk dupioni, Weeks hand dyed wool, tassels and twisted cording.  There is a beautiful wood hornbook inside the slipper holding your thimble. A beautiful project. Cost includes all materials, chart, hornbook and class.   7/11  11-2  $70.00   an ongoing class.

Wool Embroidered Lap Blanket:  Made from Australian Wool Blanketing this lap blanket 30 x 45 is embellished with a  sheep standing in a wool embroidered garden. Many new stitches will be taught using wool and floss including working the sheep on a slip that is appliqued to the blanket, blanket stitch  flowers, fly stitch leaves, granitos, French knots, and more.  A beautiful design from Inspirations 17.   Kit includes blanketing, and floss and instructions.   Backing for the blanket is your choice and not included in the kit. 7/18 11-2   Class is closed

Home Sweet Home Sewing Box:  We will work on this project together.  This will be a monthly class and you can work at your own speed.   I will be there to help you with embroidery stitches and construction.  7/25. 11-2pm.  Class is closed.

Stitch-in:  Need help finishing a project such as your wool squares, smocking, quilt squares or other project.    Come and stitch with uninterrupted time away from the hustle and bustle of life.  Any project to work on will do. 7/1, 7/6, and 7/8  11-2  No charge.
