Classes:

I offer classes in smocking, embroidery, heirloom sewing and silk ribbon embroidery.   All class fees include materials unless kit fees are noted.  Classes change monthly so check to see if there is something you're interested in.   I will always try to accommodate customers if they are asking for a certain class or a  technique they would like to learn.

 November Classes  

Now offering a new larger classroom.

 

Beginning Smocking:  In this class you will learn basic stitches while smocking an inset that can be used in a child's dress.  You will be using a beginning geometric smocking design plate with colors of your choice. You will learn how to read a graph as well as construction and blocking tips.  All supplies included.    11/24,  11-3   $25.00   

Paperdoll Quilt:    This is a block of the month class using the patterns from Kreations by Karon.  Each month we will construct a doll dress appliqued to a pima broadcloth square and sashed with a coordinating fabric. Some are smocked, some are not.   This is a good start to beginning smocking.  Each month is different.   11/7 11-2  $23.00.  For those who need to finish squares please come for help.


Stitch-in:  Need help finishing a project such as your cross stitch, smocking, quilt squares or other project.    Come and stitch with uninterrupted time away from the hustle and bustle of life.  Any project to work on will do.  11/1, 11/3, or 11/15   11-2  No charge.

Basic Embroidery 101:  In this class you will learn basic embroidery stitches such as the outline, stem, lazy daisy, French knot and more while stitching a little jewelry pouch with a delicate embroidery design.   Also covered is using the right needle, floss and hoop.  11/10  11-3  $22.00. 

Hemstitched Baby Blanket:  This white, pink, or blue cashmere cotton blanket is edged in lace or Swiss Trim attached with a wing needle and machine pin stitch.   The holes left in the fabric make an entredeux like attachment.  A small embroidered motif in the corner of the blanket finishes the project.   A sweet gift for baby. You will learn to attach lace using a wing needle, miter lace on outside corners, and basic embroidery stitches   11/14,  11-3  $30.00

Sure to be a beauty on your tree or for a special gift. Can be done white on white or with colors. Two weeks 11/8 and 11/29 11-3 $35.00

 

Ofbanttd[1].jpg (46782 bytes)Antique Toddler Dress:  Using all your heirloom sewing techniques we will make this beautiful toddler dress from Old Fashioned Baby with a lace yoke that you will construct using lace insertion, beading and Swiss trims.  The hem of the dress is embellished with a lace fancy band and ruffle.  A beautiful special occasion dress in size 1-3. May be used for larger size dress with adjustment to cost of kit.   Color of Satin Batiste your choice. Laces, fabric, thread and buttons included.  11/28, 12/5, and 12/12.  11-3  $90.00  

 

Picture Smocking:  Learn to stack cables while smocking an inset with a beginner picture smocking design.   You will be changing floss colors mid row, working half stitches, and learn to get the best results in picture smocking.     11/24  11-3  $25.00
